“a show of originality, energy and integrity...”
Jamie Smith’s MABON (JSM) and Maz O Connor are two of the most highly accomplished and critically acclaimed artists in Britain today. This double headline show captures both the depth and breadth of the two intertwined musical cultures – Celtic and English.
Both have won plaudits for their live shows, JSM having built their reputation on the outstanding original compositions of Jamie Smith and the virtuoso band that plays with him. Their live show is renowned for its energy and dynamism; their Inter-celtic music travelling beyond borders to explore the forms and styles of the Celtic traditions and work them anew.
Maz (here performing as a trio) has progressed rapidly up the ranks of young ‘must see’ performers, having been nominated for a 2013 BBC Radio 2 Award, awarded a BBC/EFDSS performing arts fellowship and spent the summer performing music written by Laura Marling with the RSC in Stratford. The range of original and traditional material conveyed with a contemporary style illuminates the stage and provides a performance of great depth and beauty
Of Jamie Smith’s MABON - 'a truly compulsive ride' The Independent,
'Both fur coat and knickers. Uplifting, energetic and cerebral in equal measure' FRoots
