Where: Queen's Theatre, Barnstaple
When: Thu 23rd Jun - Sun 26th Jun
Stand by for the 10th edition of Fringe TheatreFest. It’s one of those events that grabs you tight and won’t let go. You’ve planned to see just one show – the one that leapt out from the brochure – but the buzz is so good that you have to go back. Just one more. And just one more. And before you know it the weekend has gone in a whirl of laughter and drama and dance and clowning and your head and your heart are full.
Fringe is a very special meeting place. Professionals at the top of their game, young companies at the beginning of their journey, community performers full of fiery commitment, all here to share their passion. This year they come from Barnstaple, Bideford, Bath and Barcelona, Leicester, London and Limerick, Norwich and Newcastle – and many points in between. An international celebration of theatre-making in many wonderful guises.
With 36 shows to choose from there’s no shortage of variety. In homage to the 400th anniversary, we have Shakespeare both straight and spoofed; clowning from Brazil, Ireland and Cirque de Soleil; stories from Africa; children’s adventures from Devon and Barcelona; crazy percussion; bonkers physics; a homage to Tommy Cooper; a puppet Spaghetti Western; reflective dance; morbid comic poetry, stirring drama and so much more.
